Dinglewell Junior School values the contribution that every child makes and believes all children have their own unique strengths and talents. We work hard to raise the achievement, remove barriers and ensure all children, regardless of their needs, have access to a broad and balanced inclusive National curriculum.
We believe that “every teacher is a teacher of every child including those with SEND” (Nasen, 2014) and, in line with the SEND Code of Practice, class teachers are responsible for the learning and progress of all children through quality first teaching, and by ensuring there is appropriate support and adjustments to make learning accessible for all.
As a school, we work together to ensure all pupils achieve their potential. When additional needs are identified by the class teacher we follow the Gloucestershire graduated pathway, seeking the advice and support of other professionals such as the Advisory teaching service and Educational Psychologists where necessary. We have a skilled and experienced team of teaching assistants who work with the class teacher, SENDCos and Senior leadership team to support children who need additional support, using a range of provisions and strategies.
