Home Page

Dear Parents and Children,

We welcome Year 6 back to school this week.

For those not returning to us yet we will be continuing to update resources  for children to complete at home. Additionally, activities will be added to the My Maths website and there are links to a range of relevant websites which you will find on the main Home Learning page.

Each day, please complete:

  • a maths task
  • complete an English based task either a reading comprehension task or part of your autobiography project.
  • practise spellings daily (please see Year 6 Blog)
  • practise times tables daily (TTRockstar or on MyMaths)
  • read for 15 minutes
  • complete a topic based activity as suggested in the learning task activities below

Thank you to all those who have sent in pictures of your activities at home. Please continue to use ‘Padlet’ to use as a way of sharing what you are up to.

Y6 Staff will give regular feedback to My Maths tasks online and to the tasks shared on Padlet. We are also available to answer any questions that you may have via email:

Thank you,

The Year 6 Team

If you have an iPad or iPhone, you can make an iMovie using the installed app. Themes you may wish to include are a documentation of your life during lockdown - how does it differ to children during the Blitz?

Attached is a template for you to plan your movie using the trailer section. If you are an android user, there are some free apps including: Filmora and Vidtrim.

After the Easter holidays BBC Ten Pieces will be launching weekly ‘Ten Pieces at Home’ activities for primary schools. Each will include a Ten Pieces film to watch and enjoy and a linked creative activity that can be completed by children at home without any special materials or preparation. A perfect, simple and easy way to keep listening, enjoying and creating music at this time.

‘I’m an Engineer’

Thank you to those children who took part in ‘I’m a Scientist’ chats recently.  From what we can gather you really enjoyed this.

Next week you will have the opportunity to ask ENGINEERS  in ‘Tomorrow’s Engineers Zone’ any questions you like about for instance; robots, transplants, pizza toppings. These engineers will be online for 40 minutes and will respond to as many questions as possible during this time.

In order to access this online chat, you will need to register (this will take about 10 minutes) and be online ready at least 5 minutes before your chat is due to start.

Class 10: Monday 18th May 11:00

Class 11:Wednesday 20th May 10:00

Class 12: Monday 18th May 11:50

Alternatively, if you can't access the live chat, you can log in any time to read the Engineers’  profiles and send questions in ASK.

The log in details will be shown on the Y6 Padlet.
