In dance lessons this term we are creating a Viking dance.

It is in three sections:

1.  Peaceful Anglo-Saxon life - mime the use of props to create a short phrase of movement to show farming, weaving, collecting water, praying, eating, sleeping etc.

2.  The journey of the Viking longships - form longboat shapes with vikings holding the sticks as oars, raising the sails.  Children copy and practise rowing phrase.

3.  The invasion of Lindisfarne and the battle.

Children explore ways of getting off the Longboats to creep upon the monks of Lindisfarne as they go about their daily chores.  Children explore battle movements as the Vikings take over Lindisfarne.  Use push, pull, lifting actions.
