Return to School September 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you are all enjoying your summer holidays and we are looking forward to seeing you all back on Wednesday 2nd September.

This is a little reminder of all the things we have put into place for the children’s return. An updated Risk Assessment can be found on our website.

In September, in line with Government guidance, children will remain in their class bubbles so there will be no Maths sets until further notice.  School will have staggered play and lunchtimes to help ease the pressure on staff and keep everyone safe.  Whilst children will no longer have to maintain social distancing between each other, school staff should, where possible, still keep socially distanced from children.  In the classrooms children will sit facing the front and will not be able to sit in table groups.  At break time and lunch time the children will be outside with their year group.  We will have staggered start and end times to the day.  This is to ease congestion on and around the school site.  There is NO ENTRY for Parents to any of our classrooms due to COVID-19 Restrictions and until further notice both the Trim Trail and the Play Pod will be out of use due to COVID-19 restrictions.

We kindly request that only one parent brings their child/children to school (if necessary) and that parents do not arrive at school before the designated drop off and pick up times.   We will continually review this and we may need to change this during the term if it becomes too congested.  Children will need to remain with you at all times and not run around the school site.  We fully understand that these are challenging and unprecedented times for everyone and we are grateful for your continued support and ongoing co-operation with these new plans.  They are in place for everyone’s wellbeing and we must ask that you respect social distancing measures on school premises at all times and encourage your children to do the same.

Staggered start and finish times from September

From September we will have revised start and finish times for all year groups which must be strictly observed. At pick up time, if Parents need to wait for siblings from any year group please do so at a safe distance on the playground.

Y3 Arrive at 8.40am, use main gates and wait on Playground.

Y3 Depart at 3.00pm, children will be brought out to meet Parents on Playground.

Y4 Arrive at 8.45am, use side gate (off car park), Parents please leave children at this gate.

Y4 Depart at 3.05pm, meet Parents on Playground.

Y5 Arrive at 8.50am, use front gate or field gate and go straight to classroom.

Y5 Depart at 3.10pm.

Y6 Arrive at 8.55am, use front gate or field gate and go straight to classroom.

Y6 Depart at 3.15pm.

 

From September, children will be required to only bring a small bag to school each day, all they need is a reading book, homework, lunch box and a water bottle.  All stationery will be provided, do not bring pencil cases to school. 

PE lessons

There will be no PE in the first week of term but when children do have their PE days, which you will be notified of when the term begins, they will need to wear PE kit to school on 2 days a week.  PE Kit is black or navy joggers, school PE T shirt, school jumper/cardigan and trainers. No football kits are allowed. 

Additionally, as we hope to have the children outside as much as possible from September, please ensure that your child has a waterproof coat with them every day as they will be unable to ‘borrow’ items from Lost Property to wear if it rains.

If it is absolutely necessary, children may bring mobile phones into school, but they must be handed into their Class Teacher who will place them in a tray and lock them in their cupboard until the end of the school day. 

Breakfast/After School Wrap Around care

Breakfast/After School wrap around care will be available from 8am-8.30am and from 3.15pm to either 4.30pm or 5.30pm as required.  Places are available and application forms are on the school website.  If you would like a place for your child, please fill out the form and return it to school via post with payment.  Please do not wait until September to request a place.  We are unable to accept payment via ParentPay.

Clubs

There will be NO after school clubs running in September due to COVID-19 restrictions.  We do hope that some clubs will be able to start later in the school year. 

School Meals

There will be no hot school dinners in September.  For the foreseeable future, the school kitchen will only be providing packed lunches (fillings available will be ham, cheese or tuna).  As and when this situation changes we will let you know.

Very important information concerning sandwiches and snacks.  Please can we ask that you DO NOT send your child to school with snacks or food containing NUTS. We have a number of adults and children with severe nut allergies in school –many thanks for your kind co-operation in this regard.

Visiting School Reception

Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, please refrain from visiting our School Reception unless absolutely vital.  Office staff are on site from 8.30am-4.30pm and an answerphone is available during and after school hours if staff are busy. 

If you do need to contact school please do so by phone on 01452 617376 or by email: admin@dinglewell-jun.gloucs.sch.uk wherever possible.  If a visit is strictly necessary, please allow extra time for your visit as only 1 person at a time will be allowed in Reception due to Social Distancing requirements.
